There is nothing more important in a person’s life than knowing Jesus Christ. There is no book more authoritative, more instructive, or more life-giving than the inspired Word of God. This book points the way to Jesus. For me the ride is, above anything else, one way that we can raise the funds to get God’s Word into the hands of men and women who may never have heard of Jesus, or who need to hear God’s life-giving word spoken to them in their life situation. The fact that I can do my part to make this happen while road cycling with some of the best people on God’s good earth makes B4B a must-do event for me. I love it!
I’ve been riding in the Northern Ontario Bike for Bibles ride for about a dozen years, but I was involved with B4B a couple of years before that as the pastor of one of the host churches. I was out of shape, but I had always loved cycling. When after two years of prodding I finally agreed to ride, it had to be the most physically difficult thing I had ever tried. But I got into a fitness regime, lost weight, gained muscle, and I have stuck with it, year after year (I also did a leg of the cross country B4B ride). Now – at age 65 – I am in pretty good shape, cycle whenever I have the chance, am now on my fourth road bike, and feel like I’m 30! And yes – I wouldn’t miss this ride for anything.
