The water may be subsiding, but for many Calgarians, it will take months and possibly years before life will go back to normal. The recent flooding in Calgary damaged thousands of homes and business establishments prompting the government to put about 22 communities in state of emergency. The damage was estimated at $5Billion. Reports say that it may take 10 years for Calgary and the communities affected by the flood to recover.
Calgarians need our prayers! Please pray…
- for the health and safety of those affected by the flood.
- for strength and hope as they start rebuilding their homes
- for the relief agencies who are responding to immediate needs
- for the government agencies in their relief and rebuilding efforts
The Canadian Bible Society also received reports of churches and many individuals who have lost their Bibles in the flood. CBS is responding by providing free replacement Bibles through the program, “Bibles for Alberta”. Click here for details.
On Saturday, June 29, the Calgary Stampede One Day Ride will be a meaningful one. It will not only be a day for riding to raise funds for trauma healing in Rwanda, it will also be a day of prayer for those affected by the flood. B4B cyclists will pray for Calgary as they ride through it. We invite the B4B community join them in prayer.
